Consistency in training is key to improving as a runner. However, some of the activities we do as runners cause our levers to tighten up which can lead to inflexibility, tension, and injury.
The hips are often neglected because pain from tight hips often manifests itself in the knees. Increasing hip mobility reduces tension on the knees and the likelihood of being sidelined by common running injuries such as IT Band Syndrome or Runner's Knee.
These hip mobility exercises can be done as part of a dynamic warm-up before more intense running or running in cooler temps or after an easy or long run.
